This group is far from predictable.
Despite being one of the favourites, if it wasn’t for star player Lionel Messi, the Argentines mightn’t have got this far. And it’s the Icelandic team’s first ever appearance at the final stage of the football World Cup, making them an unknown quantity in this tournament. With a population of less than 340,000 we reckon the whole of Iceland will be in Russia to cheer them on.
There’s more firsts in this group, too as Croatia takes on Nigeria, and Argentina meets Iceland, both for the first time. With its strong track record, Team Croatia should do well although they were beaten in their last head to head with Iceland.
Argentina has claimed victory at each of the four World Cup matches where they’ve played Nigeria so a win is long overdue for the Super Eagles!
