Allow extra time in the morning to defrost your car and keep a supply of deicer in your car.
Tyre tread must be at least 1.6mm, the depth of the outer band on a 20p coin, and thicker tread will provide better grip in ice and snow. Think about swapping for winter tyres.
Don’t be tempted to dilute it to make it last longer as extra water will freeze and block the pump.
Check if they are in good condition and don’t use them to clear ice from your windscreen or you’ll need to replace them.
Front and rear, and indicators too - so that you can see what’s ahead and other road users can see you!
Stash it in your motor with more deicer, water, snacks, blankets and coats in case of breakdown. A shovel will come in handy if you need to dig your winter car out of the Liverpool snow.
Deice your car before driving off. Liverpool snow doesn’t look so good when flying off the roof of your winter car into the path of another vehicle!!
Do it before every trip. In case of emergency or breakdown, you’ll need to be able to call for assistance.
